Well, yeah, but there's been kind of um trash well, if the if it's not raining tomorrow, I think I might go outside, take a make a make a run so it's been a minute a lot of news had been um dropping.
Maurice:Yes, both uh anime and games yes, pardon our disappearance.
Jordan:There were many things, many factors happening. Life is life and, yes and uh, we needed some time off for a bit to do some stuff. So yeah we're back though. Lots of announcements, lots of shenanigans, the world of gaming and anime.
Maurice:And music. Yes, oh my God, bro Stack the year for music, though, but we get on that.
Jordan:It's been a full year, bro. It's been a full year.
Maurice:You want to go talk about the game stuff?
Jordan:Yeah, let's kick things off the Game Awards. When was that? December 12th?
Maurice:Yeah, the 12th or the 11th.
Jordan:Yes, a couple of weeks back yeah, december 12th, so they pushed out a bunch of new games. The awards don't really matter as much as the name might yeah suggest everyone knows.
Maurice:All I know is game of the year re fantazio. Yeah, my goat robbed, but it's cool. Yes, it's all right. At least we got two, though sony.
Jordan:Sony came out of pocket for that one. I'm not gonna lie, I'm kidding, don't listen to me. I've only heard good things about Astro Bot, so it looks fun. Yeah, it does look fun. Everybody I've heard played has had rave reviews. So Astro Bot, if you can't tell one game of the year. If I could clap I would, but my arms won't do it.
Maurice:My old metaphor man?
Jordan:Yeah, I would have hoped for a metaphor to win. Yeah, you know. Having finished the game now I can definitely safely say it's game of the year. That was my favorite game of the year this year.
Maurice:So damn good Story, music, characters, even the game style.
Jordan:They did win best RPG, though.
Maurice:RPG and narrative. I think it was.
Jordan:Yes, and they played the battle music with the monks. Hey, bro, the monks are here, the monks. The monks are here to stay. They're in our hearts. Um yeah, but the awards weren't that interesting. Astrobots swept up a bunch, uh. Balatro swept up a bunch, which was an indie game, uh, that released uh this year. Uh, who else got some good stuff? I think fifa 25 won um best sports game okay, yeah, yeah nothing luxurious or anything, just the best sports game.
Jordan:But the meat and potatoes of the evening was with all the announcements, and there were quite a few that stirred the pot. You know, it's kind of gotta got the what happened?
Maurice:because I um I missed out on a good chunk of the game awards. I came near like the um near like the middle and end bit, so I know there was a lot of um announcements that I ended up missing there were quite a few, um, some of the standouts immediately uh, borderlands, 4 people uh, and very interested in that.
Jordan:That got a good reception. Um, it was a hell. Divers update, adding in aliens I saw.
Maurice:I saw a little clip of it. It looks crazy.
Jordan:Yeah, I played it the other day.
Maurice:I wasn't.
Jordan:Crazy. I was running for my ever-loving life bro.
Maurice:So worse than the bugs.
Jordan:Worse than the bugs. But guess what?
Maurice:What.
Jordan:Me, I did it, I did it, I was running, I revived everybody and they finished it.
Maurice:MVP.
Jordan:I think Bishop disconnected and everything. It was crazy. Oh my God. It was actually a crazy encounter, bro. Oh my Jesus.
Maurice:So what? It was just two of y'all after that.
Jordan:Yeah, it was me, bev and Bishop, and it was actually so wild, bro, so wild, but I'm getting the hang of the game. Much wild, bro, so, wow, but I'm getting the hang of the game much better than before, so it's interesting. Um, I gotta play the update. Yeah, bro, it's fun. We gotta hop on that joint. What else was announced? Uh, there was witcher 4. Yes, gerald is no more his story's done with yeah, so obviously people are very upset because who else is going to pick up the mantle but his daughter?
Maurice:She won't kill that.
Jordan:Yeah, and this will be a trend for the game awards for the night, because the prime announcement of the evening was Intergalactic, which is Naughty Dog's new game, and it's led by a female lead. Can't remember her name, but it's the sexy ball-headed chick from Sabrina.
Maurice:That's crazy.
Jordan:Oh my goodness, I love her, but like the Cirilla stuff, you know what do you call them? Oh, the neckbeards, the neckbeards. The neckbeards are crying, talking about how women protagonists are just male protagonist, skins and blah. Whatever, you want to complain about the game hasn't even released yet the trailer was like that shit looks crazy. It does look crazy.
Maurice:Nah, I'm definitely getting it.
Jordan:It does look crazy, but the trailer was what like a minute and a half.
Maurice:About, so it wasn't a long trailer keep your ass quiet, people keep all your thoughts to yourself.
Jordan:oh uh, elder drink tried to scare the world too. Yeah, like what the fuck, bro? They said all right, so no context whatsoever. Trailer comes across, and I didn't even catch this one live, I was doing dishes. I caught it on Facebook. Somebody said Elden Ring sequel and I'm like I didn't know that one. So I looked it back up, watched the trailer. I didn't understand what they were showing us, but essentially, it was new shit.
Maurice:I essentially it was new shit.
Jordan:I just knew it was new shit and the first thing I saw was somebody sprinting and mantling a wall. Now in my mind, I'm like you put in full sprint, mantling and Elden. What bosses are you putting in the game? Come to find out. It's a roguelite multiplayer experience, so I'm all for it. It's gonna be interesting. This is gonna be like uh, preset skills, preset classes, all that stuff bro, they got the nameless king on there there's a returning bosses from old games all right looks to be very, very interesting.
Jordan:Uh, who else outer world, outer worlds 2 update that's coming out, uh? Is update no outer worlds 2 sequel. There was an update oh okay, gotcha. Yep, there's also uh okami, the sequel I saw that yeah that looks clean 18 years later I think something like that okami the sequel we're so back osha onamaji oh, onimusha, onimusha. You should have heard. Okami got my head rolling one way and then I was like oni matsu, oni mixu, there we go. Oni musha is also getting, uh, a new game. Capcom's not actually killing it now.
Maurice:I'm thinking of it.
Jordan:Steam rolling, steam roll. They're probably getting game. Let's be real, they're probably gonna get game of the year next year too.
Maurice:So, bro, look, monster hunter drops in february and so look, monster hunter drops in february and a resurgence that's going on at capcom is definitely I'm, I'm enjoying it.
Jordan:It looks promising, it looks very promising. Uh, I don't think anything else really. Look, uh, I'm missing something. I don't think. So there's like little stuff, power update, little things. But those are the major things that really stood out to me from the game awards.
Maurice:Okay, also, snoop d-o-double-g had a live performance at the I saw that I was cooking, I was like huh what, what's going on?
Jordan:but I'm hearing it right, I was wrapping some nefarious stuff up there. Look at my running trains. I'm like, hold on Snoop, this is a family program. What are you doing, sir?
Maurice:I think they would. He dropped an album recently.
Jordan:Yeah, yeah, night of the Game Awards. Got me a drink on a Friday, some shit, whenever the hell it aired, but dropped the Game Awards. Dropped the same night First live performance. Man's a maniac, bro A maniac.
Maurice:Yeah, streams play games. Got skins end games.
Jordan:Living his best life, bro, living his best damn life. Oh, mafia, the old country Wild. How do it look? Wild Looks like an A24 movie. Okay, okay, terrifying, I'm not even kidding. It's like this weird Suspenseful, like I don't want to say it almost feels like a cultist In a way. Maurice:thought we're in the mafia I didn't realize what was happening right now witchcraft on my screen in my house.
Jordan:I don't think it's gonna be witchcraft, but it just gave me a vibe of very like a almost supernatural suspensy, so that looks kind of interesting.
Maurice:I gotta check out the uh the trailer. Yeah, it sounds good though.
Jordan:Yeah yeah pretty good showing looks like something I said because we got a ghost of yotei coming monster hunter wilds yeah this.
Maurice:This year looks to be a strong year. I don't know what else they're going to have coming out this year, though.
Jordan:Yeah, last year was, honestly, it didn't produce what I thought it would in terms of high, high, high quality games. A lot of games came out and they had a good time. Yeah, they had a good time, but it was really the old stuff that popped off, like Elden Ring DLC, which was nominated for Game of the Year, by the way, you said your piece about that in the last episode, I think.
Maurice:So yeah.
Jordan:Yeah, like a DLC was nominated for Game of the Year, Like it wasn't the biggest, it wasn't the strongest pool, but next year looks to be a lot better, so we'll see I'm here for him.
Maurice:I'm especially hyped for that new ghost.
Jordan:Yes, another female protest. The ladies are just. They did. They're trying to run away with it. Next year, bro, one of them's gonna win. That's the crazy part. I don't think Intergalactic is next.
Maurice:Next year, though I don't remember, did they drop a year for it? I don't think so.
Jordan:It's been in development since 2020, so I wouldn't be surprised if it dropped late next year. Yes, also, the Elden Ring DLC is called Night Rain.
Maurice:Elden Ring you flying up in that game too. I'm a soul here for it.

Maurice:We now got Jump Festa news. Literally it's looking good. It's looking like a pack year for next year. On Manga and Anime. Dr Stone Season 3, there was what's it called. There's a special that they're going to deal with that's dropping sometime I think late next year, late next year but it's supposed to be a brand new story, along with a brand new villain, so to speak, for this special that they got going. So that should be interesting. Who Undead Unlock? Oh?
Jordan:Oh yeah, that did end kind of spicy spicy. I enjoyed that. That was pretty fun. I think, the manga ended too.

But Spy Family News, which is pretty much a new season next year, Dan and Dan season two. They showed the trailer for that over there and we already know July Summer's crazy Mm-hmm, it's going to be a packed summer.
Jordan:Six months between seasons for Down to Down is crazy.
Maurice:Knowing Dan well, it was already over with. I know they animated that part.
Jordan:Just make it two quarters, bro. Yeah, go two whole seasons without that joke.
Maurice:My Hero has some spicy news they got season eight, the last season dropping, I think at the end of the year. Right yeah, fall, that's dropping in fall. But there's also the spinoff which the fan base have been dying for the longest Vigilantes In spring, In spring.

Maurice:Bleach News. They just showed off, at least in Jump Festa. Around that time they showed off the trailers and a recap for the episodes. But, as we know, bleach has announced another season, which is going to be the final yeah, yeah, um final part dropping.
Jordan:They set everything up. I think we got what's his name, it's not. No, that's the fear dude uh yorichi and um urahara's fight. I'm gonna be real, I'm behind, bro, it's gonna be crazy. Your region urahara's fight got set up. Uh valkyrie got set up versus uh the uh the captains, yeah, yup.
Jordan:And then ishigo got set up who are you? And hosh falls got set up. So it's gonna be 12 episodes of just hands, bro. Hands gonna be good. It's gonna be crazy, bro, it's gonna be crazy. Jordan:You know people gripe about this and I think this tied up one of the plot lines that needed to be tied up that had nothing to do with panda to me and had everything to do with the setup of the cursed corpse, being three things and why panda broke down, or why panda never came back, because people were complaining that well, panda did this and then panda never showed back up again. He just abandoned Panda. He didn't explain it. That explains it. The two other souls inside of him sacrificed themselves, broke the balance of the cursed corpse, so Panda couldn't function anymore.
Maurice:He's not in a fighting sense like how he was before. Not to mention too, he also missed out on his creator too.

Jordan:Yeah, I think, besides that, that was really nice to see Sukuna bonding with somebody who he regarded as strong. The kid was like the only survivor. He's laying on a pile of dead bodies, his ability. People can't be around him without like dying from his cold ability, and Sukuna is the only one who can. So it's like a match made in heaven and he finds another soul who he can bond with. It really shows the human side of Sukuna, which is why.
Jordan:Which is why at the end, when he passed on, he had the option to go and with the person yeah yorizu, who was the temptation, the demon, whatever, or he could go with uraume, who was the representation of his human side. So kind of puts a little bit of extra emphasis on that. But more important than all of that, I think the afterthoughts for Gege Kind of crazy. A lot of self-reflection, dude, was it?
Maurice:Send me the afterthoughts I didn't even get to follow. I didn't check them.
Jordan:I'll send them to you. But to paraphrase, he admitted that he kind of started to lose himself in the work a little bit Like, and lost his way in the story at certain points, and basically saying that any kind of inconsistencies that popped up were.

Jordan:Related to that part of his self doubt and all that stuff related to his work and the way the material he was putting out so kind of made me feel bad for the guy, because catching a lot of flack for the ending and the ending does feel a little bit rushed. But I think he lost I don't say he lost faith in the product, but you know how when you working on something for a long time, mm-hmm almost.
Jordan:You know it's almost done, you're at the finish line, but it's also just not your main focus yeah you're ready to go to the next thing, you're excited about the next thing, you're excited about something else, but you have to finish this thing Almost kind of the same vibe I got from JJK towards the end. So it's like for him to move forward. I think he kind of started letting that joint go. So hopefully he takes what he learned from this joint and brings it to the next work, cause he does say he's excited about working on other stuff.

It's easy to get lost up in it and to where just like saying, all right, how are you going to end it, how you do this, this, that and the fourth.

They don't feel like a side character, they don't feel like they don't feel like a, a one-off, they feel like a main character, they feel like a one-off, they feel like I'm a character. They feel like, oh my God, for the next two, three arcs, this is your story, so go ahead and take it.

I feel like a lot of the discourse, not just from us as friends, but from the internet as a whole, was that this would be an Overwatch 2 killer. I have not played it and seen anything that tells me that look, I'm gonna be real, it's an overwatch true killer.
Maurice:I think nothing's gonna kill overwatch. No blizzard themselves try to kill overwatch and that didn't kill overwatch.
Jordan:Overwatch could still be dog shit, though, but I I think overwatch is pretty much nest in that, even with it pissing off its own fan base, it's still going to survive I think nothing will kill overwatch rivals is uniquely positioned to put pressure on them to improve the quality of the game which would be nice which I think is gonna play in favor of the community, but I don't think rivals is doing anything that's really necessarily innovative in the hero shooter space I'll be real, I don't necessarily also need an overwatch killer no, you don't like I'm cool with, like I'm cool with marvel rivals.

I definitely enjoy marvel rivals a lot more than Overwatch, but that's probably because I don't know how to go ahead and class that, because I do have hours in Overwatch, but I just enjoy Marvel Rivals.

But like people who are climbing the ladder, who have like been trying to break plaid, like there's like if you know the walls in the game like not like literal walls, like the metaphorical walls where you start to feel like that's your challenge in the game then I consider you a player in the game. Like you were more of a casual player, Like you played when we played and we played quickly and we do our thing. Sometimes we play comp if we feel real spicy, but like it was nothing crazy. So I can understand why you would like Rivals more, because it's not bad, it's fun. It's not bad, it's fun, it's a unique experience. All the characters are crazy. I'll say that the character design in that game is phenomenal.
Jordan:Phenomenal, but the balancing is trash and I know it came out like two weeks ago, which is why I'm not taking it to heart right now, but at some point they have to address it.

Hitbox is definitely the thing the hitboxes are so bad in the game and that's a big part of why a lot of these characters are a problem, like Hela Jeff. Oh, no, hela's of these characters are a problem, like hella jeff, like I don't know. They're very forgiving characters and it just. But it sounds I'm not. I like the game. I enjoyed the game. I don't. I just personally don't think the game is as cracked out in fire, he's just overwatch.

There are other times where I could have been playing Overwatch, where I wasn't playing Rivals, and I just opted to play other games because I really don't feel like playing Overwatch right now. It's like I'm trying to be as objective as I can and I've been given the game a chance and this is just the feedback I have. Yeah, I know those are the two biggest things to me the hit boxes and the character balancing.
Maurice:cuz like Healing is super strong, damage is like either you don't do no damage or you just explode. There's no team is looking at you. Man, you're just over, but also you can be saved. You can have all the health From the brink of death bro, you can pop one cooldown and somebody can hit you with their cooldown and you have full health.
